TAP-ADEPT

The Teacher Advancement Program and ADEPT model have worked together to prevent districts and schools from duplicating efforts. The following documents are attached below for our participants to better understand how these South Carolina Department of Education offices work together.

The first document is a PowerPoint presentation designed to explain the ADEPT process and how TAP fits under the current ADEPT umbrella.

The second document is the correlation for the Performance Dimensions (PD) of ADEPT correlated to the indicators of the TAP rubric.

The third document is the correlation of the new Performance Standards (PS) of ADEPT correlated to the indicators of the TAP rubric.

All SCTAP districts have access to CODE, the on-line community of TAP participants, and there are excel files posted in the forum section which will convert the TAP scores into the appropriate PD or PS from ADEPT.

Below are Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the TAP – ADEPT alignment:

1) How many TAP observations will those going through a formal evaluation year need?
a. The same amount as any other teacher in the TAP school (minimum of 4).

2) What scores on the TAP rubric will “pass” ADEPT?
a. This question is complicated. The teacher would need to pull up the appropriate conversion document (2004 or 2008) and look at which TAP indicators are matched with each PD or PS. The minimum requirement for each PD from 2004 is “2” on the TAP rubric and “2.25” on the new Performance Standards. (see question 6)

3) When should the TAP observations for those in formal evaluation year be completed?
a. The same ADEPT dates should apply.

4) Who will conduct these formal observations?
a. The TAP mentor, master, and administrators should formally observe the teacher. The ADEPT mentor should not formally observe and score the teacher.

5) How does a district report scores/results?
a. The school or district will use the excel sheet posted in the Forum section of CODE in order to convert TAP rubric scores to the appropriate ADEPT scores and then report those converted scores.

6) Should my district use the conversion document from 2004 or 2008?
a. For the current school year (2008-2009) only two of our partner districts are using the new Performance Standards (Anderson 4 and Georgetown). All other districts should refer to the document created in 2004. However, all districts should refer to the 2008 document for the 2009-2010 school year.
