Ongoing, Applied Professional Growth

The SCTAP has incorporated elements of successful professional development programs in creating the ongoing, applied professional growth principle. Findings from the Eisenhower Professional Development Program (2000) indicate that there are six key features of high quality professional development that lead to increases in teachers' self reported knowledge and skills and change in teacher practices. There are three structure features (characteristics of the structure and activities) and three core features (characteristics of the substance of the activities) that are incorporated into the SCTAP.
