Educator Preparation
The Office of Educator Preparation, Support, and Assessment (EPSA) has responsibility for reviewing, reporting, and enhancing the quality of educator preparation units and programs in South Carolina who prepare candidates for state certification. Through on-site accreditation visits and professional-reviewed program evaluations, the Office presents comprehensive educator preparation information for use in planning, assessment, and policy formation for the State.
Ensuring compliance with State and Federal law, the Office also serves as the central repository for educator preparation policies and regulations and coordinates training, work sessions and seminars for deans and other university personnel around the state. Other major functions include assisting teacher preparation personnel with developing assessment methodologies, aligning conceptual frameworks to national and state standards, and complying with state- and federally-mandated reporting requirements.
